Mario Kart 8 Could Have Had A Drill
Mario Kart games have mixed things up with several gimmicks over the years, from driver pairs in Double Dash to the Lucky 7 item from that numbered entry. There is at least one idea that never fully emerged: Nintendo once thought about adding a drill to Mario Kart 8.
After the addition of gliders and underwater sections in Mario Kart 7, there was talk of taking the races underground in the follow-up. This short goes over the pitch, while calling out some instances of drills that actually did make the cut in other games.
Mario Kart 8 and its Deluxe version saw enormous success across the Wii U and Nintendo Switch, becoming one of the most best-selling video games of all time. No wonder Mario Kart was used to reveal the Switch 2!
