20The Thunder Cloud can be passed between players up to 255 times. Afterwards, the game won't let the player who has it to pass it again anymore (as seen at 4:05).
In the lower right part of the screen, the number of times the Thunder Cloud was passed is shown.
If I had to guess, this limit also applies to online mode. However, I haven't been able to verify it myself, but I've seen clips of people online passing the Thunder Cloud for various minutes.
