Massive margin calls are already being issued!
Susquehanna received a $48bn margin call on monday, they received a loan from an undisclosed firm (I wonder who) to cover the margin call and prevent their liquidation.
Susquehanna have a fiduciary duty to deny any false rumours, as they didn't release any press statements, I'm lead to believe that this rumour is true.
Other short sellers like John Hempton revealed how Friday/Monday was one of their worst days since fund inception, but how can these funds be hurt more by AMC running over $20 now, than they were when AMC ran over $72 back in June 2021?
These shorts have doubled down on their positions and spent billions in fees over the last year, therefore, even when AMC has a fairly small price movement, it nearly destroys the underlying funds.
