How the shorts are trying to escape
Shorts have been trying to escape both the GME and AMC dividend for some time, shorts are now begging the CEOs of BBBY and AMC to issue new equity so they can purchase these shares directly from the company (not through the stock market) so they can obtain shares to close their short positions without causing the squeeze.
They're also trying to delay brokers from issuing APE, as they likely wont receive APE on the GoLive date of 22nd August, this way the brokers and trading platforms can play pass the parcel/hot potato with the few remaining APE shares.
