A great and addictive crafting experience that unfortunately lets you down when it comes to using those wonderful tools of death.

Let's get the ugly out of the way.

There were some technical hiccups at the start but they all smoothed out as we played.

The inventory needs some love. Not being able to stack items. Items not auto stacking. Inaccurate item selection from your bag. Having to make multiple back and forth trips at the store to buy in bulk. All of this is just tedium and poor UX design. This is one of two areas that needs some real attention.

The second glaring issue was the "combat" itself. The whole beat saber like time chamber of death didn't do it for me. It was, in a word, boring. Without the need for experience, it felt like something you could skip out on if you didn't want to do it. It felt like you would be much better off keeping the mine running and selling ore you didn't need yet for money. Sadly the exp requirement for advancement forces you to participate. What should be the highlight of the game, using your hand crafted tools of death, ends up being an exercise in tedium. I haven't even mentioned the poor combat mechanics such as the bow aiming with just one hand rather than your draw hand having any input whatsoever. Combat was poorly designed.

Just about everything else though, I loved. This is the type of crafting system I want to see in a full blown AAA MMORPG.

I liked that it wasn't just handed to you. You had to crack a few ingots to make that first omelet. You failed. You learned. You got better. You accomplished your goal. Shiny new crude dagger in hand, ready to stab something!

The crafting loop was definitely addicting. I generally aim for an hour long gameplay session and ended up in the game for nearly 2 hours. It's definitely one of those 'just one more X' games.

Graphically the game holds up very well. No stand out issues and very consistent except that weird tongs texture.

The audio felt good. The only out of place sound effect was the exp scroll... squeak? Alert? I don't know, it just didn't feel right to me.

The 'story' was interesting and decently voice acted if not full of plot holes. How exactly do new items come into the store or the money leave the store if we can't leave?

Overall, if you're looking for a crafting, blacksmith simulator. Give this game a go. If you're looking for crafting and combat... Depending on the ratio of combat you'd want, you may need to look elsewhere.
