First off let's be honest. This needs some love and some polish.
There are collision issues with the world.
Some quality of life adjustments to be made with looting.
The tablet and gun could be more responsive.
Some settings didn't seem to take effect correctly.
And several others that I mentioned in the video.
It should really be labeled as an Early Access title in Steam. If it were, I would be more forgiving of those issues. I didn't encounter anything game breaking or that would prevent my progress but the above definitely make the game feel clunky. Some simple adjustments could go a long way towards making the game feel better.
I can hear the comments section now... Complaints on the art style left and right! I don't mind the low poly look. I didn't mind it in Orbus and I don't mind it here. For me, it's more about consistency. It looks much better in headset when everywhere you look, looks the same than it does in a YouTube video. No complaints here about the graphics. At the same time, the low poly doesn't do anything to blow players away either. It's acceptable but not impressive.
I did like the battle music and none of the sound effects seemed out of place.
Gameplay is exactly what you'd expect from a pokemon game. Some corny questing. Battling and capturing monsters. Collecting them all and becoming the very best!
Overall it's a decent poke clone with a lot of potential. It's not a great game but it's also not a bad game. It just needs some love to clean up a few rough edges.
This will be a recommended but that's mostly due to the lack of similar genre titles. This is a very unique title in the VR space. Fans of the Creature Collector/Poke Clone genre will likely enjoy themselves. If you're not a big fan of that genre you may want to wait for a sale or for the game to receive a few more QoL patches.
