By the fifth season, Maureen and many of her fellow costars had gotten tired of the quality of the scripts. She felt that they were stale and didn’t reflect the maturity of the younger members of The Brady Bunch.
The show was cancelled after the fifth season and this couldn’t have been more welcoming news to Maureen McCormick. She was ready to move on from the role and wanted to find more interesting characters to play.
She had her eyes set on a role in the film “Midnight Express,” which later became one of the biggest hits in the 1970s. Unfortunately, she didn’t land the role as practically no one could see her as anyone but Marcia Brady.
She began to feel haunted by Marcia Brady. She felt that the role would be with her forever and that she’d never find meaningful work following The Brady Bunch. This anxiety took its toll on her career and her personal life.
So, what happened to her? Luckily, Maureen McCormick’s story is one of triumph. While she faced many hurdles in her career and personal life, she managed to overcome them.
