Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne | Longplay Full Game Walkthrough No Commentary
Full game longplay of Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, second game in the series and the sequel, released on 14th October 2003, for PC, PS2 and Xbox, this being the Xbox version, which has a bult-in widescreen support, 480p, and an unlocked framerate up to 60 fps, while PS2 is overall worse in terms of visual quality, with no widescreen and locked to wonky 30 fps at best.
Two years after the events of the first game, Max Payne (voiced by James McCaffrey) has been reinstated in his old job as a police detective for the NYPD. One night, he is called on to investigate a gunfight at a warehouse owned by his old ally, Russian mobster Vladimir Lem (Jonathan Davis), who has since become a wealthy and powerful crime boss. Max discovers that the warehouse was attacked by a group of hitmen called "the Cleaners", and is surprised to run into Mona Sax (Wendy Hoopes), who he thought had died two years ago.
Immortal cult classic, right there, much improved over the first game, but it was missing some of the gritty charm and interesting levels from the first MP game, save for those horrible line-jumping while in a nightmare stuff, that sucked dick. It just so happens that you comeback to the Ragnarock club like three times in this game, with the location being basically unchanged. Might also add the game's length as a big disappointment. Cult hero, and unwrapping his (then) final story in just 4-5 tops is not enough. Whole gameplay though is immensely improved, especially gunplay. Which game, Max Payne, or Max Payne 2, would I choose as the best in the series? (because let's be honest about MP3, it's clearly not what MP is about, fun but definitely not the best what MP has to offer) I'd hesitantly chose Max Payne, perhaps mainly out of pure nostalgia, but still, locations, Max constipated face, and comic story scenes, were just immensely good and fun. It's the content that decided for me, not the gameplay or simple graphics.
