Next Life (Reprobates: At Death's Door) | 1440p60 | Longplay Full Game Walkthrough No Commentary
Full game walkthrough of Next Life, or Reprobates, or Reprobates: At Death's Door in some regions, a classic point 'n' click adventure game with *some* elements of thriller/horror, released in September 2007. Developed by Czech studio Future Games, creators of Nibiru, and my beloved Black Mirror from 2003 (of which you were reminded off at every step of marketing for this game, mostly on the retail cover lel).
I had the feeling that this was indeed in some way connected to Black Mirror game, but couldn't really explain how, then I looked at the retail cover, and then it clicked. I'm gonna say it's not quite up to pair with that 2003 classic, but it's a pretty competent adventure game, with some interesting design choices. But the worst part, is how the game unfolds. It's extremely slow burning, first 2-3 hours are boring as hell I admit. The "nightmare" sections are what saves the game. Last 3 hours of the game are pure gold. But otherwise, I'd rate it 7.5/10, it's only high points are late in the game, casual player playing it blind could get to that phase perhaps at the 8-10 hour mark. Sloooooooooow burn. But moderately worth, in the end, I'd say.
Reprobates (freely translated as "damned") is an extremely dark and mysterious adventure game, using mostly classic technical solutions. It is definitely something for the fans of the Czech group Future Games, known for their excellent point and click adventure Nibiru: Age Of Secrets and the classic horror Black Mirror. Everyone who already had contact with previous products of the Czechs and had fun with them, probably already realized that Reprobates is another game for them. The plot of the game is terribly convoluted and twisted. Our alter ego is Adam Raichl and he's a 23-year-old technician, currently working on some not very exciting project. He's on his way to work in the morning, as he does every day, when suddenly, after getting into his car, he has a strange hallucination in the form of a blinding flash. Nevertheless, he starts the car and hits the road. He listens to the radio and answers the ringing phone. This decision costs him his life, because a moment later he collides with a tanker truck. At the critical moment he sees the strange flash again and the blue tunnel leading towards the light. He wakes up in a strange little house in an unknown place at an unknown time. There he meets people not quite from the year he remembers as current. The island's inhabitants appear and disappear as the mornings go by. Is this hell, heaven, or maybe just a madhouse? Did our hero die or did he save someone from an inevitable death? Does what others say make sense? Will he ever come back to 'his' life? One thing is for sure - the scenario is full of mystery, darkness and improbable events straight out of a dream. All that we can perceive with our visual receptors we owe to the third version of the engine known from Nibiru called AGDS (Advanced Graphic Development System). Refined graphic design offers, among others, improved animation system of characters' movements (including full lip synchronization with currently spoken words), more realistic reproduction of atmospheric effects and the introduction of an innovative system of animation of clothing "hung" on the characters. Everything, of course, is designed to keep up with the development of PC-class computing power and to meet the requirements of modern players.
