124MECHA Ritz is a pretty amazing free doujin game, it's like a shmup rollercoaster.
This game is fairly easy to beat since it gives you so many resources but that is not the real goal. The real goal of the game is to drive up the rank as high as possible and make the game go completely nuts in the process.
Besides bombs you can also get one-hit shields in this game. You can carry a maximum of 10 bombs and 5 shields at a time. For the purple item carriers you can choose between a bomb or a shield but if you pointblank them you can get both. Same applies to the green point carriers but you get more points instead.
The higher you push the rank the bigger your score multiplier becomes so pushing the rank is pretty important. There are many ways to increase the rank like collecting max bombs and shields and killing bosses in the time limits. Deathbombing also gives you rank but one of the biggest sources of rank is pointblanking item carriers since it gives you 3 rank each. Getting hit decreases it by 3 and dying lowers it by 7. Furthermore the game features a speedkill mechanic where the faster you kill the enemies the more item carriers will spawn.
Normally you can only reach a maximum rank of 99 but you can also unlock an initial starting rank of 100 which is pretty much a hard mode. As far as I can tell this has no rank limit to it. The highest initial starting rank you can unlock is 120.
Rank does a lot of things. Besides making bullets faster, doubling in count and making enemies shoot more suicide bullets it also does very weird things like making some bullets bigger and making bullets home in on you.
Rank level also doubles as your shot level, your shot is the weakest at rank 0 and the strongest at rank 99. Starting rank 100 starts you off at minimum power again but it doesn't depower you at 200 and onwards.
In order to face the true TLB you have to not let your Time drop to 0. You do this by getting the time bonuses and not getting hit too much. If your time drops to 0 you face a fake TLB.
