Mechanized Attack - Old School Rail Shooter Similar to T2 Arcade!
5An old school rail shooter with striking similarities to Midway's 1991 arcade classic Terminator 2: Judgement Day Arcade. Mechanized attack was developed and published by SNK back in 1989, and featured humanoid-robots that were very similar to those seen in T2 arcade. The human opponents often transformed into bots as you fired upon them, revealing their metallic robot like appearance with each successive shot. The game's weapons were often hidden behind crates and other objects, also in a similar fashion to Midway's T2.
Surprisingly, it appears that Midway actually took the concept for T2 arcade from SNK, being that Mechanized Attack was released several years prior to Midway's T2, which was released in 1991.
SNK created a number of rail shooters in the late 80's and early 90's, later fazing out from the concept as they focused more on creation of fighting games during the mid to late 90's.
