It's been awhile since I've played a Mega Man game, and we still have so much more to see in the series. Mega Man 9 was released over 10 years after Mega Man 8, so Capcom took a big break from the original series because there were so many spin-offs. What they did was really clever; they went back and kept it simple and created an 8-bit style approach to appeal to nostalgia. It really feels like you're playing on an old console; they nailed it. The music is some of the best, with excellent stage design. The mechanics are simple: no slide or charge buster. Just jump 'in and shoot. The weapon upgrades were very well thought out, and the Wily Stages require and show you their uses. The difficulty is challenging too. They don't hold back in the last stages of the game. Honestly, this is one of the best Mega Man games I've played. If you love the classics, this game is a must play.
