Mega Man: The Power Battle - Arcade - Intro, Attract, Mega Man Playthrough Buster Only 1CC [4K60]
Full gameplay longplay / playthrough / walkthrough of the CP System (CPS1) arcade game Mega Man: The Power Battle. Full one credit clear as Mega Man / Megaman using the classic route of robots from Mega Man 1 & 2 on NES. A boss rush arcade game that is the perfect format for the Mega Man series. Originally released in the arcades in late 1995, this was the first arcade game in the Mega Man (MegaMan) series. Allows players to select either Megaman / Rockman, Proto Man / Blues and Bass / Forte and each character has there own ending. As always Dr Wily is up to no good and you have to stop him, assisted by Roll, Dr Light, Beat, Rush and friends.
Fast paced and more fluid than than the core series, many may prefer the arcade game to the rest of the series. It's pretty much a perfect format for the arcade, easy to fight bosses you and a friend can tackle together. The game has three routes one based on Mega Man 1~2 (which you see here) Another based on 3~6 and finally one based on Mega Man 7, which released the same year. Amusingly this game actually borrows a lot of the character sprites directly from Mega Man 7, clearly to save development time.
As an arcade game goes this is the perfect length and difficulty fairly easy to master, but hard to put down. On top of competing for the high score the game also tracks your best time. Making this game great for competitive play, it's just pity the arcade itself ended up being quite obscure and rare to see in real life arcades. A sequel arrived n 1997, but it is largely a rehash of this game just with a few different robots and Duo added to the player roster. It a real shame the arcade games didn't get more love on the home formats with a Japanese PS2 release, a handheld version on the NEOGEO Pocket and a poorly emulated version included on the Mega Man Anniversary Collection. None of which got a European release. How well the Mega Man arcade machine did is anyone's guess as the team never saw either game out in the wild.
