Icewind Dale II - PC - Intro & first hour of gameplay (Goblin attack on Targos) [4K]
The final game to use BioWare's Infinity Engine, Icewind Dale II follows on a number of years after the original. While much shorter and not as good compared to the other Infinity Engine games set in the Dungeons & Dragons, Forgotten Realms, it's still a very good game in it's own right. Adding in a number of new features and classes not seen in previous titles. It's also the only title to use the rules from Dungeons & Dragons Third Edition.
If you enjoyed the previous games you'll no doubt enjoy this one, from Inon Zur sublime music score to the excellent story. Considering Black Isle only had 10 months to put this together they did a solid jobs and you can see a retrospective by the lead designer Josh Sawyer here on YouTube: https://youtu.be/zng4VfRZTNA
The game starts with your band arriving in Targos only to find the port town overrun with Goblins. For this video we used one of the pre-made parties you can select. Unlike the first game Icewind Dale II never got an expansion, partly this was likely due to Interplay's financial woes.
The game is running from the original boxed CD release, the opening intros and cutscene were captured at the standard resolution of 800x600 for the larger size. The game itself is running at the unsupported resolution of 1024x768 which you can unlock in the Icewind Dale II configuration program. The speed of the game is tied to the frame rate, so while you can run the game at 60fps it then causes the game to run at twice the intended speed.
