We're back with our favorite humanoid robot, X! Last time, we left no upgrade, heart tank or sub tank behind. We ever managed to scoop up the coveted 'Hadouken' upgrade. This allows you to instantly kill any enemy, however it does not work on any of the bosses we'll see here.

I haven't played this game in ages, so I forgot that the fourth stage is actually the last one. Originally, I had planned to do the first four stages in this video and leave the final boss and ending for next time. However, the fourth stage is really more of just a place where you can refuel. At the end of the fourth stage, you fight 'Velguarder' and then immediately go into the fight with Sigma.

Let's leave that for next time and take care of the heavy lifting we need to do beforehand!

PART 4 - SIGMA'S FORTRESS, STAGES 1-3

As you can probably imagine from your experiences playing the 'Mega Man' series, we are going to have to a rematch with the eight Maverick Hunters we faced in the first half of the game. These should be an absolute piece of cake for you at this point.

I found the first stage to be the hardest, as you'll have to face two new bosses, along with a rematch with Boomer Kuwanger in between. Additionally, there's a part where you have to climb from moving platform to moving platform. It can be a bit unnerving and straight up annoying to fall to your death below. So watch it!

STAGE 1
Boss 1 - Vile - Weakness: Rolling Shield

There's no way for you to win the first part of the fight. You'll need to take damage until your almost dead. Then Vile will paralyze you with some beam. After watching the scene (no spoilers), you'll regain your full energy and can now beat Vile quite easily using the Rolling Shield.

Rematch - Boomer Kuwanger - Weakness: Homing Torpedoes

The second half of the stage can also be annoying, as there is a climbing portion where enemies will respawn easily, if you slide down even just a bit. Still, the large number of enemies makes it conducive to generating power-ups. So make sure to refill what you need.

Boss 2 - Bospider - Weakness: Mega Buster

I don't remember this boss being so tough, but it certainly took me a while to learn its movements. Even then, I still had to use a sub tank. This boss really only has two attacks. The first one creates random web paths that the spider can then whizz down to reach you. Its goal is to basically just touch you and cause damage. It also disrupts your charge.

The second attack spawns four mini-spiders that fall to the ground and head in your direction before scurrying up a wall. You can easily kill these, however I found that unless you kill all four, Bospider will respawn them back to four.

It can be hard to predict where Bospider will end up, as it can use either the vertical or horizontal lines. Additionally, it's only vulnerable when it briefly reveal a red core hidden on its abdomen.

Stage 2

In this stage, you'll have a rematch against Chill Penguin and Storm Eagle. In my playthrough, I started with Chill Penguin, so now I can actually use his weakness against him, Fire Wave. Neat.

Boss - Rangda Bangda - Weakness: Chameleon Sting

This boss is basically a room that has two eyes and a nose. Each eye will take a turn floating around the room, then the nose will detach and do the same. When its the nose's turn, the walls of the room will also temporarily narrow. It's really not much of a challenge.

Stage 3

In this stage, you'll have a rematch against the remaining five Maverick Hunters: Armored Armadillo, Sting Chameleon, Spark Mandrill, Launch Octopus, Flame Mammoth. This takes up a good chunk of the level and there are thankfully some power-ups waiting for us as well.

Immediately after beating Flame Mammoth, you'll proceed to one of those pre-boss vestibules before facing the Stage's true boss, D-REX.

Boss - D-REX - Weakness: Boomerang Cutter

This boss is a tank-like vehicle that resembles the head of a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Only the top half is vulnerable and its weakness is the Boomerang Cutter. Its top and bottom-half will detach with the top-half rising and/or falling in hopes of damaging X. This shouldn't give you too much trouble though.

And that's it! Next time, we'll be taking on 'Velguarder' and Sigma himself!
