Mega Man X2 & X3 (Review): Second Verse, Less Than The First | Tome of Silver
X returns for twice as much intensity! Hello everyone and welcome to Chapter 37 of the Tome of Silver. The show where I randomly select a game from my collection, review it, and add it to an ever-growing ranking list.
I’ve stated on multiple occasions by this point that the original Mega Man X is a masterclass in 2D platforming, and when it was first released in 1993, critics and fans alike shared the same sentiment. Seeing the commercial success of their new iteration of the Blue Bomber, Capcom wasted no time developing a sequel. And I mean really wasted no time, as Mega Man X2 was released just under a year later in December of 1994, with Mega Man X3 the following year in 1995.
I’ve decided I’ll be tackling both Mega Man X2 and 3 together in a single video, as both titles share very similar gameplay, so it feels redundant to cover each separately, and this way, we can put more focus on each title’s unique mechanics to show what they bring to the table. And just for full transparency, the footage in this video is from the Mega Man X Legacy Collection, recorded from my Series X. Without further ado, equip those upgrades, board your ride armor, and let’s turn the page to Mega Man X2 and X3, for the SNES.
