Part 14 of the MMX3 Minimalist Speed Run
This is a segmented speed run through Mega Man X3, in it's entirety, under the following restrictions; no weapons, no upgrades, no damage sustained under any circumstance, and no use of Zero (outside of a forced section in the Intro Stage segment.)

This is one of two bonus segments for the Mega Man X3 Minimalist Speed Run. I intended to do these after completing this project around a year and a half ago, but the time escaped me. University will do that. Vile's Factory is a completely optional section, and it obviously offers no benefits in regards to a Speed Run, but I figured it was worth showing off. The Abandoned Factory can be accessed from three different stages; since beating Volt Catfish makes the factory substantially easier, and Blizzard Buffalo's stage is the most interesting in regards to actual level design, I tackle Vile here. There's no real difference in how the factory plays out based on where you access it from, so it's all up to player choice.
The Factory itself houses one particular problem area, and that's the vertical climb. During this climb, debris falls down in a completely random manner. The debris tends to avoid the right wall, which would make things much easier, if not for the fact that their are small platforms that keep you from being able to climb the wall without some tricky maneuvering. The jumps needed to get over those platforms bring back ugly memories of the elevator skip from Gravity Beetle, and there's always a chance a cheeky piece of debris will fall at an unfavorable time or position and ruin your day. The climb itself is very short, but bad luck is still a pretty big threat here. Vile himself is worth mention purely for how pathetic he is. You might recall in X1 that he was a pretty major threat, what with his fast mobility, and quite unrelenting attack pattern. With some upgrades from Dr. Doppler, he's lost.... all of that. The Ride Armor phase speaks for itself, I think. It's not a hard rhythm of jumps maintain and he dies in barely a minute. Conversely, his second phase has, y'know, attacks, so it's already miles ahead of the Ride Armor. Oh, they're not difficult to deal with at all, don't worry. What's your favorite, the slow moving bullets that you can dodge by sort of just getting out the way, or the fire pillar which can be dodged with the most simple jump you'll ever pull off? Once Vile blows up, the rest of the Factory is given a small time limit, but it's a pretty easy area. The one notable part of this section is that the developers managed to give those green barriers a halfway sensible purpose, and destroying them before they fully rise to the ceiling is pretty precise. The rest of the factory and Buffalo's stage goes as standard. Not super interesting, but still worth showing off I think.
Also, I'd like to thank Bit's smart ass for ruining numerous segments by means of just appearing. Thanks for that.
