Happy anniversary to the blue bomber, who's been whomping Wily for a good 35 years.

In celebration of this milestone, I've decided to run not only the original Megaman game (via its Complete Works port on PS1), but its PSP reimagining "Megaman Powered Up".

Powered Up is an interesting title as it completely shifts the original game on its head: there's two new robot masters, with the weakness order changed up for a majority of the bosses to accommodate the new robot masters and to challenge longtime fans, the stages are all re-done using similar themes, and you can now play as all of the 8 robot masters in addition to Megaman! (With Roll and a special other character also available via download and unlock respectively!)

There was also an extremely robust stage editor and sharing service so that you could build your own stages, share them with other players, and play fun or challenging stages by other players! While the service has finally closed down not long after this writing, there are several helpful folks online who have backed up several of the official and fan-made custom stages, as well as the DLC so you don't miss out!

But even with all these fancy new changes, the core story remains the same: robotic lab assistant Rock (or "Mega" as he's called in this version) steps up to become a super fighting robot to thwart the nefarious Dr. Wily's plan to steal Dr. Light's robots and use them to conquer the world.

It's a tale as old as time, man.

Like with the Megaman 11 longplay, this isn't an RTA but a supercut of a single long session with the deaths and reloads cut out for viewer convenience. (Otherwise this video would be several hours longer, and most of that extra footage is just me falling off the Gutsman lifts. For hours.) It's not so much a skill exhibition as it is just a regular playthrough, for people to see what the game and its cutscenes looked like. For science and everlasting peace!

Played on Vita TV, Normal difficulty.
