Megaman X - Part 3 (No Armor & Abilites)
Subject: In this run not only is it an X Buster only run but I don't obtain any armor upgrades as well with the exception of the dash boots since it's unavoidable. Even then I won't be using the dash option after I obtain the upgrade. (I make no guarantees that I won't accidentally dash once our twice with the directional buttons.) This actually isn't the usual order I go in when it comes to fighting the mavericks. I'm actually going in the order of my least favorite track to favorite track.
Progress
Boomer Kuwanger's Stage
Spark Mandrill's Stage
Chill Penguin's Stage
Out of the three stages in this video, Boomer Kuwanger's stage is easily the more difficult one being that it has a few trouble some parts. The main section to worry about is the one starting at 1:20 with the machines that shoot at you every time you step in the red line. Even when stepping in them with the dash boots, the lasers aren't hard to avoid. Without the dash boots you have to be somewhat stealth like for this section as the lasers are pretty hard to avoid without them. Vertical sections also become somewhat difficult without dashing. . (Just wait till Sigma's Stage 1.) After the elevator portion, the level becomes pretty simple from there. Bommer Kuwanger is actually not that bad. I just haven't fought him in a very long time. He actually doesn't do much aside from teleporting a lot and occasionally attacking you with the boomerang which isn't hard to avoid. (Can be a little hard to tell what direction it's coming from since it goes off screen.) Despite how fast he might seem do to all the teleporting, he actually leaves himself open a lot and is easy to shoot.
The other two stages are actually fairly easy. Only thing setting them apart would probably be the fact that Spark Mandrill's stage has an annoying midboss though he's of course weaker if you've gone to Storm Eagle's stage before hand. The main problem with Thunder Slimer is that he takes a lot of life when he runs into you, which being that he's constantly sending out those bubbles that trap you and is also jumping around a lot, isn't very hard. Other then that, the stage is pretty simple. Spark Mandrill I use to think was pretty tough but the more I've fought him, I realized he is not so bad after all. He is one of the more powerful Mavericks however and is easily capable of killing you in 3 hits if you have the default amount of life and no upgrades. Aside from that, all his attacks are really easy to see coming and aren't hard to avoid at all. The only problem I had with him is just trying to jump over him do to how big he is and being that he takes a lot off of you if you run into him was a huge problem but I got the hang of how to avoid him overall.
tt goes without saying that Chill Penguin is the easiest Maverick in the game, hence to why most go to him first. I'm actually not sure if I find him to be the easiest or Storm Eagle. Storm Eagle is really easy to avoid and doesn't have any dangerous moves while Chill Penguin is also easy to avoid but seems a bit more aggressive. Either way, they're both pretty simple rather you have the dash boots or not so not really much to explain here.
With all the Mavericks defeated it is now time for the Sigma stages. I don't remember how the other two are but I know the first one is going to be dreadful without using the dash option. I have my work cut out for me...
