Subject: In this run not only is it an X Buster only run but I don't obtain any armor upgrades as well with the exception of the dash boots since it's unavoidable. Even then I won't be using the dash option after I obtain the upgrade. (I make no guarantees that I won't accidentally dash once our twice with the directional buttons.) This actually isn't the usual order I go in when it comes to fighting the mavericks. I'm actually going in the order of my least favorite track to favorite track.

Progress

Flame Mammoth's Stage
Launch Octopus's Stage
Armored Armadillo's Stage

Flame Mammoth's stage has always been right in the middle for me when it comes to difficulty However, without the dash boots or going to Chill Penguin's stage before this one makes the level quite difficult. The conveyor belt parts were the main difficult parts in this level, especially the later parts with the smashing down on those robots. I've always found Flame Mammoth to be one of the easier mavericks to fight with the X Buster but not so much without dashing. His moves are still easy to avoid. You just mainly have to be aware of when he jumps. Had to do a lot of predicting when he was going to jump this fight in order to avoid him but other then that, he's not so bad.

Launch Octopus's stage I don't really have much to say on it. It's an easy stage for the most part though the second mid boss fight is the main problematic thing about this level but not all too much. When it tries to suck you in all you'll need to do is jump high enough and you'll escape it for a short amount of time. Launch Octopus on other hand is by far the most annoying to fight for me. Nothing but missile spam and though it's easy to see them coming, without the dash option you'll need to position yourself really well in order to avoid or counter the missiles. I thought the main move to worry about at first would be the one were he does the whirlpool to suck you in and absorb you since you can't out run it but not only does it suck you in very slowly, even if he manages to catch you can actually escape him before he starts absorbing any life so long as you mash the hell out of the buttons. I've came to a conclusion that I wasn't really satisfied with the outcome of this battle the main reason of how close it was but I really didn't want to redo this level.

Armored Armadillo's stage is actually one of my favorites on here and is also pretty straight forward. There are a few jumps with spike pits however that you'll need to literally jump near the edge and across in order to make them. Kind of made me feel like I was playing one of the Megaman games having to perform a jump like that. With the exceptions of those spike pits, it's another one of the easier levels. The fight with Armored Armadillo can be a difficult one with the buster only if you aren't sure how to approach him. In my case though, it was an easy fight. In fact the only reason why I got hit were due to a few mistimed jumps. (But damn he's pretty powerful.) I mainly stuck to just shooting the normal shots and timing the third shot to where it'll almost always hit him. (Also made sure to charge shot if he wasn't facing me.)

With two of the most difficult mavericks out the way, things should pretty much be smooth sailing from here....or so I hope.
