The player piloting a space pod along the bottom edge of the screen while facing alternating waves of enemies. Each round is divided into two distinct parts. In the first, called the monster phase, enemies descend in groups from the top of the screen. Although a total of twenty-five appear in a wave, only eight are present at once.
They drop bombs as they fall, and any that reach the ground transform into hopping creatures that chase the pod horizontally until they collide with it. During this phase the pod’s weapon fires a three-way spread, with one shot straight upward and two angled to the sides, giving the player broader coverage against the attackers.

When the monster phase is cleared, the game immediately shifts to the ring phase. Here the enemies are wobbling circular shapes that drift downward while expanding. The player’s weapon is restricted to a single shot that travels straight up, removing the diagonal coverage from the previous phase. If a ring expands far enough to encircle the pod, it disables the pod’s fire and lifts it upward off the playfield, costing the player a life. Points earned for destroying rings correspond to the value of the monsters from the previous phase, tying the two halves of the round together.

The challenge escalates as the player advances through successive rounds, with faster monsters, more erratic movement patterns, and rings that grow and descend more aggressively. Control of the pod is simple, using a two-way joystick for left and right movement and a single fire button. Upright cabinets allowed one or two players to alternate turns, while cocktail tables automatically flipped the screen for the second player’s perspective.
