The controls consist of a steering wheel, accelerator pedal, brake pedal, and a gear shifter. Players begin by selecting a car from a predefined roster. Once a vehicle is chosen, players are given a brief period to drive along the expressway to locate their rival. Upon approaching the rival’s car, a duel begins automatically, transitioning into a high-speed race along the highway.

Each car has unique handling, acceleration, and top-speed characteristics, requiring players to adjust their driving style to the chosen vehicle.

Races are set on accurately modeled sections of Tokyo’s expressways, including the Wangan Route and the C1 Inner Loop.
Players must maintain high speed while dodging traffic, aiming to deplete the rival’s Spirit Points (SP) or finish the course in the lead. SP is reduced by collisions or falling behind, and a race concludes when either the player or the opponent’s SP reaches zero, or when the player finishes the route.

The progression is linear: players face a series of rivals, each with distinct vehicles and driving patterns, culminating in a final showdown against Akio Asakura’s Devil Z.
After completing the game, players were presented with a password screen displaying a unique code.
This code served as a record of the player's progress and could be used to resume play at a later time, allowing players to continue from the point where they left off.
