The gameplay is extremely simple and designed for children. Players insert medals to begin and are given a fixed number of attempts per credit. The cabinet simulates a shallow water tank filled with fish, and the objective is to “scoop” them by pressing a button at the right time. Each press represents a net attempt: if timed correctly, the fish is caught and the machine pays out medals.

The game has no physical scooper or fragile paper nets like the real festival version. Instead, the cabinet handles everything digitally, with the fish moving across the screen in predictable patterns. The challenge lies in timing the button press to coincide with a fish crossing the capture zone. Some fish yield only a few medals, while special or rare fish give higher payouts.

Because the target audience was young children, the controls were deliberately simplified to a single input, and the machine’s audiovisual design emphasized bright colors, cheerful sounds, and rewarding feedback. There is no progression beyond the basic loop of inserting medals, catching fish, and earning more medals to continue playing.
