Meteos DS: Brabbit Demonstration
A collage of colored gas hangs over this planet. Brabbiters are sentient gas beings and amazing shape-shifters.
From one of the "worst" planets to one of the "best", we have Brabbit. Brabbit's physics are extremely slow and floaty, much like the planet's gaseous nature. Meteos rise to their apex point slowly, but surely, regardless of how many Meteos fall onto the stack, before descending back down relatively quick. For the meta in Meteos DS, both in points and in PVP, Brabbit is widely considered to be *the* best planet for one key reasons: its physics allow it access to the strongest technique in the game, known as *shielding.* Shielding is when a stack continuously pushes incoming Meteos past the drop line to send ungodly amounts of Meteos at other players (or into space in Deluge mode), resulting in an extreme in both offense and defense. Not only does this make Brabbit difficult to take down when in the right hands, but it also makes it amongst the easiest to make high scores with.
There's only two downsides I'd have to give it; one is the extremely short burnt Meteo regen timer. Burnt Meteos regenerate *very* quickly upon landing, oftentimes too quickly for incoming Meteos to make possible matches with. The other downside is that the floaty physics make recovery pretty difficult if you're in a situation where you have a full screen of Meteos and only a split second reaction to save yourself. You'd need to match near the middle to avoid outstanding columns, and even then the nova timer isn't exactly generous, so you just might not have enough time to do even that from my experience. In the hands of a skilled player, however, these downsides might end up being negligible if you don't allow your "shield" to break to begin with (or if you aren't struck with any rare Meteos, which break clean through any stack).
Brabbit's reputation is well warranted, but don't let that discourage you from using other planets you like better. The "best" might not be your cup of tea.
