MetiKSP E32 | Assembling The Lupus 0 Station - 'Snowfall' Module | ATS26 Elysium
Um um
Telemetries from the Unix was cut several months ago, following the original scheduled launch of its next unit, called 'Snowfall'. Rising concerns come forth in regards to the launch of this module as it is not certain if it will or will not become part of a new presiding space station. To the encroaching media and the strange omen caused by the previous launches, the media is finally exposed to the new Launch Tactique of the ATS space program. Utilizing the second flight of their next generation SSTO - The Elysium. Construction of a new spacestation 'Lupus 0' will begin. The existence of the Lupus 0 will be used both as a staging grounds for future missions and the additional formalities of Tourism and science. The 'Snowfall' Module would be the only remainder of the previous failed Unix station, whoms parts have since been left floating lifelessly in the harsh conditions of sunlight and absolute zero. In an attempt to stop possibilities known from previous missions where fragile station parts such as solar panels would get damaged by the interior walls of the SSTO - a New Strut and Focus system has been created to evenly distribute the workload of the Space component.
Following Internal verifications and the loading of the 7 member crew configuration of the Elysium SSTO. The mission of ATS26 is a go. This time, the Elysium is mounted with more powerful rockets which implies greater versatility during both orbital insertion and eventual post-Earth missions taking crew towards the moon and beyond. In order to demonstrate the perfect safety of the Elysium ship, Media crew were permitted in a risky PR move to station near the launchsite. The launch moves successfuly, as both the inbound cargo and the Ship frame appears to undergo relatively little stress. Upon breaking the Max Q. All communications were cut by a nearby thunderstorm, of which the Elysium's system temporarily decked offline. Contingency tests enabled the Rocket motors to continue their scheduled ascent. Following the small outage, the Elysium would completely switch over to its drone mode, using a subsystem similare to the Enigma and Sigma droneships - which has thus farp proved to be extremely precise. Upon reaching the upper atmosphere - the Elysium would begin it's Station Launch procedure. Following rapid checklists and the opening of the cargo-gates. The first module of the Lupus 0 Space station would be launched. Namely a habitat module named 'Snowfall'. The Snowfall serves as an intermediary crews quarters where most of the Station crew facilities will be located in, alongside accomodations such as food nessesities, toiletries and sleeping quarters. The module 'Snowfall' has no RCS or navigational properties, and thus, it is only a uncontrolled floating device left in lower Earth orbit. Despite warnings from Aeronautic engineers, the Launch was put to a go, with the risk that the second mission towards the 'Lupus 0' Space station would witness an uncontrolled tumble of the 'Snowfall' Incase of it's system failure. Dispatching the Lupus 0 Station, the programmed landing and re-entry would begin. This time, a contingency procedure where the Elysium would perform it's de-orbit turn at the last moment before contact with the upper atmosphere of Earth. Despite the narrow marginals, the Elysium Spacecraft managed to correct itself during pre-entry. Landing safely past at the Union VAB. ||Sorry about the Video Cuttoff ||
