MetiKSP E22 | ATS15 - Final Flight of Theta | MONOchem via Antelope Theta
umm um
TOO MUCH SOLAR PANELS BROKEN. BYE
MONOchem is a sattelite used to observe the chemical organic
traces of the planet, mostly that of organics in the atmosphere
and their confluence with the ground. The MONOchem will also be
studying the global algae bloom and the cycles of water in an
attempt to understand oceanography better. Onboard the MONOchem is
a fix of 10 instruments, mostly labs meant to perform chemical
experiments in zero gravity for an extended time, also in the
presence of the Van Allen Belt. In order to better understand its
impact to life during deep space travels.
As intended in the contract, the Antelope Theta and Delphi were to be the final two low cost sattelite launchers created with lease to the Union Space program. Due to the high periapsis of the orbit, the mission carried heavier fuel, essentially further condensed loxene and oxygen.
The Antelope Theta, due to its good track record in launches, is scheduled to thus launch in colder weathers. Unknown during the launch, a heavy cold front has swept the upper limits of the sky, creating storm currents of turbulence - invisible to instrument and naked eye. Upon Nearing Max Q - the Theta is suddenly bombarded by an extremely unexpected turbulence of winds, causing the craft to shudder and spin, barely retaining control as the rockets propelled it into space. The seperation of the tanks occurs as the tip of one of the rubber coated tank -tiptops- scrapes against the left wing. Through the window, the crew find no notable damage.
Upon delivery of the Payload of the MONOchem, it is discovered that further solar panels , 2 out of 4 have been 'dismembered' from the sattelite, mostly cue the weather phenomenon found in the upper atmosphere. Luckily, the MONOchem - partially a weather sattelite, will be able to gain insight on this and help in further launches.
Attempting to wrest control of its malfunctioning left wing - the Theta undershoots the runway to VAG, landing short of the mountains before it. Crashlanding into the muddy bogs. Eventual damage reports showed significant warping and tensile stress in the hull of the ship. Though it is restorable, the Theti will remain grounded for now. Where the Delphi will be the only remaining Antelope co. operated Aircraft to continue flying payloads. Future payloads are to be divested into the Enigma Drone launches. With news hearing that a newer version of the Enigma Drone will be introduced, manely a manned enigma drone which is capable of carrying astronauts into space. If the case is true, then it would imply that all means for the Antelope program will be scrapped.
Currently working alongside the Antelope program, the Enigma drone is getting a sister ship created: called the Sigma Drone. Which is nearly identical to the Enigma, however, it is a more maneuverable ship capable of high definition docking and 10% greater fuel capacity.
