Now that the prologue is out of the way, now it's time for Samus Aran to finally start her new adventure. She finds herself at the Biologic Space Lab, or B.S.L. for short, where she has to eradicate a new type of enemy: the X parasite. This would sound like a really dangerous proposition (which it is), but one of the perks of the vaccine that Samus was given is that she is now able to absorb any X she encounters to refill her life energy or weapon energy. The main deck of the B.S.L. serves as the perfect place for Samus to adjust to her new lease on life. Her controls are more or less identical to those she had in Super Metroid, and the enemies here shouldn't pose much of a threat here as she gets a taste of what's to come later as she explores more of the space station.
