This run is a low optimized Tool assisted Speedrun, which aims to beat the game without collecting and using Boost Ball while obtaining as many Items as possible.
The Cannonball glitch is banned since it would allow me to boost without having the Item in my inventory

Without Boost Ball, it is possible to collect 95% of the Items. The four unobtainable Items are:

Seeker Launcher - Boost Ball is required to rotate the Spinners
Spider Ball - we need Boost Ball for phase 2 of the Boss
Echo Visor - it's not possible to break the glass in Main Gyro Chamber without Boost Ball
PB Expansion in Main Gyro Chamber - the cannon is not activated when the Echo Visor gate is not lowered

[Update] January 12th 2022:
using "Screw Attack Unmorphing" it is now possible to collect Echo Visor without Boost Ball, raising the possible max% to 97%:
