Got the Morph Ball at 0:01:10. Obtained the first missle tank at 0:03:30. Obtained the Long Beam at 0:05:30. Got the first energy tank at 0:07:31. Got the Morph Ball Bombs at 0:09:05. Obtained the Ice Beam at 0:11:17. The Ice Beams are located in Brinstar & in Norfair. I got the Ice Beam in Brinstar. The Ice Beam & the Wave Beam cannot be fused together. You have to swap out beams. To regain the Ice Beam, you can go back to one of the rooms in Brinstar or Norfair. Got the High Jump Boots at 0:26:43. Obtained the Screw Attack ability at 0:28:44. The Screw Attack is one of the most useful abilities in the game! You'll see why. Got my second energy tank at 0:32:43. Swapped out the Ice Beam for the Wave Beam at 0:38:14. Donned the Varia Suit at 0:51:55. It reduces damage by half & the suit turns a pale yellowish white color. When missiles are armed, the suit turns pink. Got my third energy tank at 0:54:02. Swapped out the Wave Beam for the Ice Beam at 0:55:38. Descending into Ridley's Lair at 1:00:06. From 1:02:22 to 1:09:00, I've been trying to get over a wall that leads to a room with an energy tank in Ridley's Lair. I tried to clear an invisible gap, but fell. I died at 1:09:20. It was all for nothing and I had to enter an old password at 1:09:48 to restart from a certain point in the game. Heading back for the Varia Suit at 1:10:44. Got the Varia Suit again at 1:13:27. Went to room where I got my third energy tank before at 1:15:14. Recovered the Ice Beam at 1:16:53. Descending into Ridley's Lair again at 1:21:40. Got my fourth energy tank in a room next to Ridley's Room at 1:27:00. I fight Ridley at 1:27:12. Descending into Kraid's Lair at 1:34:53. Got my fifth energy tank in a room near the elevator in Kraid's Lair at 1:37:00. I fight Kraid at 1:39:20. Got my sixth energy tank at 1:43:00. Here's some advice: DO NOT get this energy tank at 1:43:00 until you are ready to head to Tourian to kill Mother Brain after killing both Ridley and Kraid. Energy Tanks are the only way to restore all energy instantly. The Statue Room near the Tourian Elevator at 1:44:44. Descending into Tourian at 1:44:58. I fight Mother Brain at 1:47:50. Self-Destruct mechanism or time bomb set at 1:50:00! The Good Ending at 1:50:45. The hero removes the power suit & Samus Aran is revealed to be a female! Nintendo wanted that to be a surprise for the good ending & the instruction booklet referred to the space hunter as a male to hide Samus' true gender. The Metroid co-creator Yoshio Sakamoto recalled, " We were partway through the development process when one of the staff members said 'Hey, wouldn't that be kinda of cool if it turned out that this person inside the suit was a woman?' The developers voted on the concept and it passed. Ridley Scott's 1979 sci-fi horror film Alien was described by Sakamoto as a huge influence for the game. Ellen Ripley (portrayed by Sigourney Weaver) was the main protagonist in the film. At 1:51:16 are the game's credits. Back in the 1980s, Nintendo used pseudonyms to prevent employee poaching. For example, the original Metroid game's composer Hirokazu Tanaka was credited as "Hip Tanka". At 1:53:04, I use the Metroid password system to say "Thanks for tuning in". Please rate, comment, and subscribe. Tekman out. Have a good one." Password system didn't have alot of space. So "thanks" was "thx". End of video at 1:55:35. I play the original Metroid on the NES classic edition without using the save state feature. I beat the game under 3 in-game hours to get the good ending. I made a video where I show the NES Metroid's instruction booklet. You can find it in my playlist titled "Original Metroid videos" or in my playlist titled "Video Game Instruction Booklets playlist". The instruction booklet tells you the Metroid story as well as about the items & enemies in the game. I DO NOT own the Metroid franchise. Credit go to Nintendo.
