https://www.patreon.com/ulillillia --- About 2 days ago, I tried using the voice chat feature in Facebook with one of my friends (note: limited to major friends only). Strangely, I could hear my friend just fine but my friend could not hear me at all. My microphone is working, but absolutely nothing gets detected or sent through the browser. I've tried so many things to rule out the problem, but nothing seems to work:
1. Running Firefox in Firefox's safe mode. Plug-ins, extensions, etc. are ruled out.
2. Running Firefox as an administrator. Rules out some Windows-related limitations.
3. Disabling my antivirus and firewall. Rules out a firewall/antivirus blocking issue.
4. Closed and restarted the browser multiple times. Potential memory corruption from Firefox-related components ruled out.
5. Made sure that permission for sharing the device was granted. Usage denial in browser ruled out.
6. Updating the browser is not possible - it's already up to date (version 46.0.1). Outdated software ruled out.
7. Audio recording in Virtual Dub and Audacity, even simultaneous from the same source. "Device in use" and microphone set up issues ruled out.
8. Other input sources attempted - I can record from them just fine, but it still shows up as silence in Firefox, regardless. Rules out the input source being incompatible.
9. Moved the microphone to my other sound card - works still the same. Rules out the sound card.
10. Restarted my computer - no change on anything. Rules out some Windows component or the like going corrupt.
There may be others, but I'm running out of options. It seems that most everyone else isn't having any issues at all.
