Did you know that with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, they decided to make the game almost entirely cloud-hosted?
Now, I’m not totally against the idea. These games used to eat up so much space, and theoretically, if your internet’s decent, it should work smoothly.
Xbox even sent me a review code. But here’s the thing—at launch, the servers were so overloaded, and the game was so buggy, I couldn’t even play.
And I wasn’t alone—almost nobody could.
I tried again, a day later, and I FINALLY got into the game, but that’s about it. I couldn’t even start a single flight.
It was pretty sad, but things have gotten better. Now I can jump in and play like normal, and when it works, it’s pretty impressive.
I’ve really enjoyed the challenges and the sightseeing missions (especially in VR mode), but also just flying around wherever in the world I want.
The graphics can be amazing—but they rely HEAVILY on a solid internet connection.
The planes handle super realistically, and every detail feels polished–when it’s working.
It’s just a shame the launch was such a disaster. Here’s hoping Microsoft keeps improving it because, when everything clicks, Flight Sim 2024 is a really cool experience.
