Silent Hill 2 (2024 Remake) | One-Minute Game Review
So, what’s the remake of Silent Hill 2 like for someone who’s new to the series?
I’ve always been more of a Resident Evil fan, and I hadn’t really given Silent Hill a chance.
But this Remake captured my interest. So, before it released, I did my homework and I played some of the original games.
They weren’t as similar to Resident Evil as I expected. Silent Hill definitely has its own vibe.
The atmosphere is so specific. But – somehow – they’ve faithfully recreated it here in this remake.
The dense fog is perfect, but I do wish that some of the areas weren’t quite so dark.
They hired some really great acting talent for this - the main character, James, is especially good.
The performances may be what I’m most impressed by, but the puzzles are also fun, and the combat is exactly what a game like this needs.
Ammo is in short supply, and there’s a lot of sway when aiming – so you have to rely mostly on melee attacks.
It's amazingly tactile – you really feel each swing you take.
And the enemies don’t hold back either.
I’m disappointed that it took me this long to give Silent Hill a chance. But this remake of Silent Hill 2 is absolutely worth playing, no matter what your past experience is with the series.
