After looking back at some of the old books for The Lord Of The Rings over the last while, I thought I would take a look at how Middle-earth was represented in the first White Dwarf issues for both the original trilogy of films and The Hobbit. With around a decade between the two movie trilogies, it was interesting to see if they both got equal billing in issues of White Dwarf from Games Workshop.

It was neat looking back at the designer interviews, painting tutorials, battle reports and more that were shown off. There was clearly more of a focus on The Lord Of The Rings being a bigger thing with the way the magazine was lain out but The Hobbit still got a decent inning in that initial issue!
