Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor - glitches and observations pt. 2
The rest of the glitches that I found from this game.
---
0:00 - a Caragor dismounting loophole.
If you walk towards a ledge and then press 'dismount' and 'vault' at a rapid succession, you create a special dismount that is very often a jump directly backwards, even if there is collision there. This isn't a guarantee, though - at some ledges Talion will continue to do a normal dismount. It depends on the ledge.
So what's the use of this? I suppose this is an additional, unintended way to do a jump in this game. It's so specialized that it almost never comes in handy, though.
0:19 - special dismount can leave Talion standing on top of some collision, almost giving the impression that he's levitating.
0:35 - I found one spot where a dismount such as this allows Talion to slip out of bounds.
1:02 - a clip showing it's possible to escape by doing a Shadow Mount through a wall.
1:16 - one time when testing this loophole I got a very unique result which may or may not be related.
The loophole itself seemed to do nothing special. But afterwards when I continued riding with the Caragor, it seemed as if it reacted to the collision of the wooden 'box' underneath in a different way than normal. Eventually the Caragor clipped inside the box and Talion got stuck. I haven't seen the Caragor ever react to the collision in this way before, and I couldn't reproduce the effect later either, so it remains a mystery.
(Not on the vid: this loophole can be done on Graug too, but I didn't notice any major effects from it.
Well, one time while testing a Graug instantly dropped down the ledge, leaving Talion behind to do a displaced dismount on top of the cliff. But this is another thing that I couldn't reproduce later, so I don't know if it was related, and sadly it didn't end up being recorded either.)
2:06 - one more thing about interrupting pole animations with 'activate'. Rarely if you interrupt a tall climb, Talion may get stuck endlessly falling against some slippery collision next to the pole. The frequency of this happening probably depends on location.
2:27 - a random incidental glitch to close off the video. A sword got stuck on some collision and seemingly hovered in air for a bit.
