Midnight Anima (or Mayonaka no Tamashi, Midnight Soul in Japanese) is a game by a mysterious individual known as "Kenshi Oyumai." I found the half-translated nightmare thanks to a few Russian Mercenary Translators, which prompted me to look deeper. It was a mess! A 1995 game during the TRPG Boom in Japan landed itself in a little known magazine that was impossible to find. Looking deeper and into a VERY dedicated (and small) 2Chan Community, I pieced together an epic game mixing themes of Dragonquest, Berserk, Sword World, and King's Field all into one. As the Dark Souls RPG had just come out, I took the time, collected notes from various editions, and added some of my own things for an unofficial "4th Edition."
