3 different arcade to Megadrive ports for my videos today!

This is Midnight Resistance by Data East. originally a 2 player arcade title with rotational joysticks (like Ikari Warriors) to allow the player character to run and jump while shooting in 8 different directions. This was ported to the Sega Megadrive very early in the life of the console (it was also on 16 machines like the Amiga). Obviously the system can't hoep to replicate the control scheme so various methods are offered from pressing a button to rotate your firing angle 9like Forgotten Worlds) or the method I use here where the A button switches firing on and off, B locks the gun angle and C jumps. It takes a while to get used to but I remember getting really good with the controls back in the day. It does come back - like riding a bike I guess.

This is my first play for a while but like lots of classic games a lot of it is burned into the muscle memory :-)

This is an excellent port although it is single player only & the system displays lots of slowdown when the screen is busy - check the battleship boss for an extreme example.

Flood of Power is still a banging tune though and one of my favourites on the system.

This is my original copy from back in the day played on my Sega CDX/MultiMega through a Retrotink 5X for ease of capture. It's the first time I've played it in years but it should give you a sense of the game.

This is one of my very few Genesis cartridges as most my games are either Japanese of pal format. Remember picking this up early in the life of the system having enjoyed the arcade title. Good times!
