I hope you are all happy, safe & healthy whatever challenges you are facing right now. Apologies for the delays in uploads - life has been hectic! Quick video to get back in the upload habit!

Fans of my channel will know that the Saturn was my console of choice back in that generation of gaming. Not once did I regret the decision to choose Sega's 32-bit powerhouse despite it coming a distant third to Sony's all-conquering PlayStation and 2nd globally to Nintendo's cartridge based N64.

Despite the other systems getting more praise from the magazines of the time and getting more ports and big name releases I loved a lot of the software Sega was putting out and once you add the Japanese library to the mix then it is a console with a lot to love.

I've been meaning to start uploading Saturn videos for a while.

This is X-Men Children of the Atom on Sega Saturn. Originally released in the arcades by Capcom in 1994 it was released in early 1995 for the Sega Saturn and is a very impressive early release for the system. It was one of my first games for the system & I remember the joy of finally beating Juggernaut (and then Magneto who was strangely easier to beat) back in the day. Huge sprites, superb animation, tight controls & varied & detailed backgrounds with lots going on made this a clear step up from the 16 bit machines.

It was suppose to release on PlayStation 1995 too but quietly got dropped from release schedules as they were struggling to get it to run in any sort of playable state, A heavily compromised version did eventually see release on Sony's machine but not until 1998!!!!

I used to be a lot better at it but my skills are obviously very rusty. I play a few rounds as Wolverine and then one round as Psylocke. If you want to see more gameplay from this one let me know and I'll tune up my skills and make a better video. Definitely worth checking out for fans of the genre.

Want to see more Saturn games. I have tons of them, both Japanese & PAL games - as I say - it was my main system for that generation.

This is my original Japanese copy (love that cover artwork!) - it didn't come out in the PAL territories - from back in the day played (at 60Hz) on my modded PAL Model 1 Saturn through a Retrotink 5X for ease of capture - although my capture card didn't want to play nicely for some reason.

I'll be uploading more Saturn games in the future :-)
