Minecraft 2.0 was announced today. The announcement included a long list of new features such as tinted glass, mob heads, multiplayer dungeons, changes to animal mechanics and many other things. Possibly the most exciting upcoming change, though, is the addition of the new Super Hostile gamemode.
In this video I show you guys what the new Super Hostile game mode is like by playing a full round in it.
The basic mechanics are as follows:
- The goal of Super Hostile is to get the highest score possible before you die
- Super Hostile is a variant of Hardcore, so upon death, the world is deleted
- Health mechanics are altered so that health no longer regenerates from having a full food bar (the only remaining way to heal is via Golden Apples or Health Potions)
- Each day, the difficulty increases, giving mobs more health, and forcing them to spawn closer to you, more often, in higher light levels
- Hostile mobs drop RANDOM LOOT upon death. The rarity of this loot increases with the difficulty
I am really looking forward to this mode being in the full release and being able to play it with others.
