Cats are passive mobs that spawn in villages and swamp huts. You can tame cats using raw fish, either raw cod or raw salmon. Naturally spawned cats will be stray cats and will run away from the player when the player is within 7 blocks of the cat. The cat will still avoid the player when it's within 16 blocks. If you hold raw cod or salmon in your hand while the cat is within a ten block radius. The cat will approach the player and beg for the fish. Now if the player does not move, turn their head fast or remove the fish from their hand, they can tame the cat by right clicking using the raw fish.
