29The Autoswitch Mod for minecraft allows you to auto-switch your tools when appropriate so you do not have to do it yourself. The Audoswitch Mod is a forge or modloader based mod with instructions of how to install it on the forum page.
An example of the autoswitch mod at work would be if you are holding down your mouse and going over a stone block, it'll switch to your pick; if you then switch over to a wood block while still holding, it'll automatically switch over to your axe.

Do note that you need these tools in your inventory for this to work. To enable the AutoSwitch Mod (or autoswitcher mod), you hold Shift then press B (Shift+B). When you click on the auto switch mod options you'll open up a new window which may or may not appear behind your current minecraft window.

The options dialog for the mod has many options that you can go through which can be really beneficial, right down to the custom whitelist and blacklist of each tool to ensure that you get the experience you want. For example, lets say you do not like destroying leaf blocks, but like to harvest them; you can whitelist those leaf blocks to be destroyed by shears only, which would end up giving you those leaf blocks to your inventory.
In the Autoswitch Mod options menu, you can make it so that you use up your weakest tools first. This goes off of a 2 tier system: If you have a few stone pickaxes and an iron pickaxe, it'll use up your stone picks first. If you have multiple iron pickaxes only, it'll go after the ones that have the least durability. This can be quite useful and can help organize your tools and inventory better.

As already mentioned, you can install the autoswitch mod (or autoswitcher mod) with both Modloader and Forge.

Regardless of which way you install this minecraft mod, you'll have to place both of the zips that are required directly into the minecraft.jar file in the c:/users/[username]/roaming/appdata/minecraft folder. That is the default minecraft folder.
The autoswitch mod really provides an organized and timely way of switching between all the tools in your posession so you no longer have to spend that extra time scrolling through your hotbar at the bottom for a single block or two of mining, just to switch back. This automates the whole process which makes it easy and improves your quality of enjoyment on Minecraft. Due to this, I suggest using this mod as it does not alter the gameplay itself or provide some form of cheat, but just simplifies the process so you do not have to worry about it
