Mini Classics Break! Drum Practice! Round and Round! Ratt! Etc!
**Practicing First Attempts on some songs:)**

One thing many of you may not realize is that when I pick songs to drum to, I usually haven't attempted them before. So, even in THIS particular video, you will see me thinking of how I can try to pull off the songs. I don't sit there for hours and hours and hours and do 400+ edits to one video to get a perfect drum song. You get the raw deal (awesome Arnold movie, to boot!), and you can see me matching the tempo, rhythm, and so on. And, of course, in the case of artists like Pendulum, you are "fighting" to keep up with inhuman tempos, since they are generally done with Synthesizers, rather than "real" drums, in many cases! But, I still had to try it on real "electronic" drums, nonetheless! KMFDM is even crazier, obviously:) Even when I was in school, I never really used a metronome. It would be more a distraction for me, as I wouldn't be able to focus on the music as much.
When I was filling in some final classes before graduation, I decided to randomly take the hardest class possible, Music Theory. It was known this was taught by a College Professor, and would even net you a college credit, if you went to College after graduation! It was definitely different than any other class I have taken! In it, I learned that Math is Music and Music is Math! You can compose music without ever even playing it on an instrument, in fact! You just have to know what notes work with what notes! So, my final project was me needing to write a composition. I ended up doing a progressive rock one. A little Chicago, SuperTramp influenced, with overtones of the classical music songs from Boyz N The Hood OST. I only lost points because I didn't do the notes for the "drum" portions! But, overall, passed the class with success, aside from me just not doing drum notation:)
Chicago is classically trained, as is Helmet, the artist that collaborates on the final song in this video. Many other bands are not. Personally, I am a mix of classical training, as well as playing by ear. More so, playing by ear. I really am NOT a fan of sheet music. I am more the type to just look at the sheet music, then simply not use it a second time! You are more natural if not "reading" while playing. Kind of like those who read from a teleprompter "obviously!" Remember, Drums are NOT my first instrument! That would be piano:) I was playing piano since I was in kindergarten! I surprised teachers when I randomly hopped on a piano and started playing stuff like Stairway to Heaven, and Guns N Roses, later on. I was pushed to go to higher education. But, my "attitude" and "stubborn" nature sort of made that more of an issue:) My attitude and stubborn nature, however, are also what keeps me driving forward to do the things I want to do, no matter if people tell me I can or cannot do them! Someone says "impossible", I try to think in terms of "possible!"
