Mini-Yonku Bakusou Kyoudai Let's & Go!!: WGP Hyper Heat Game Sample - Playstation
MYBKL&G WGP - Hyper Heat is the first of two games by Jaleco for the Sony Playstation that is based on the once-popular manga, "Bakusō Kyōdai Rettsu Endo Gō!!" by Tetsuhiro Koshita that appeared in CoroCoro Comic centered around Mini 4WD. It was later adapted into three TV anime series with over 150 episodes and spawned several games made in the mid-to-late 90s during the height of its popularity (though a DS game was made back in late 2009 under the name "Mini Yonkyu DS" or Mini Yonku DS). ShoPro currently has the rights to the franchise and are "very" adamant about removing content pertaining to anything they own, so we removed the opening intro from the footage (as they are said to be similar or the same as the whole anime counterparts) to reduce any inquiries. Everything else falls under fair use of the "Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107" and under "Japanese Exceptions Regarding Japanese Copyright".
The game revolves around the main characters from the Bakusou Kyoudai Universe such as the titular elementary school brothers, Retsu and Go Seiba, the wanderer Ryo Takaba, the spoiled rich kid Tokichi Mikuni, the highly trained Oogami Corps battle racer "J", Jun Sagami, Dr. Tsuchiya, Takesihi Sugiyama the emcee, ecetera. However, you won't play as them in the main mode. Instead, you play the role of one of two original characters (one male, the other female) who is not voiced like many other characters and you choose a Mini4WD vehicle to customize with parts and send into races.
While the game is a "racing" title, the game is heavily based on dialogues and customization, with racing playing a rather minor role as you have almost no direct control over your vehicles and play the role of an observer, watching how your car performs in race circuits. If that doesn't sound very interesting to you, then also consider that the way cars perform is rather minimalistic and preset based on the stats in which they have. Basically, having certain stats will make a car perform exactly the same on a race every single time, the only deciding factor being whether the competition accidentally crashes and burns or if you get a fast start (one of the only things you can control directly during a race). If your stats aren't high enough, you'll place last every time as skill has nothing to do with it. For this reason, the "sequel", Bakusou Kyoudai Let's & Go!! Eternal Wings (Based on the MAX series), is generally met with considerably more favorable reviews (and is an all-around nice game).
The game features so-so audio/visuals for the time (with a pretty low race framerate) and three main options (Scenario, Free Battle , and Options). This is a video of the game in action. Be warned that only ONE MINUTE (roughly 9:46 to 10:56 or so) is race footage, because as stated, you'll spend more time meeting and talking to characters and customizing your car parts than racing. Enjoy.
