LOL, people new to our channel(s) probably would've never seen this coming, but truth be told, we uploaded content for this game about three and a half years ago. Why? Well, it was easy and convenient back then as I just ripped all the movies off of my CD, but up until recently, I had never actually "played" Mort the Chicken. I can still go back and see most of the comments in my inbox... people apparently loved the game dearly for the most part despite the very low scores the game recieved from some professional review sites. All I knew about it was that it was kinda funny and aimed towards children.

But then I started playing MtC... and it was just hard to stomach, especially when "AndNow Interactive" did work on the quirky and great "Tiny Tank" over a year BEFORE MtC came out (Mort came out near the end of 2000, TT came out September of 1999). The game isn't inherently bad, but it's just plagued with poor controls, an awful camera, some headache-inducing levels with clipping and most enemies who have few details, and it just felt kinda pointless. You can also beat the game pretty quickly if you're not concerned with collecting everything (by quickly, I mean within a day) and the game is incredibly simple even when you take into account that it's a kids game. The soundtrack is effective but predictable as well. The intermissions between levels break up the tedium and the game might have been somewhat appealing to a younger demographic ten years ago, but it has not aged very well.

Playing as a super chicken named, well, Mort, you have to save baby chicks that have been abducted by a race of alien cubes. Yes, it's as absurd as it sounds. You must dive, peck, and leap your way from level to level finding the chicks and taking them to safety, and the game has a small array of power-ups to aid you in your quest as you fight with the camera and wrestle with the controller just to turn or not slide down a slope. The game looks like a classic 3D collect-a-thon platformer, but doesn't hold a candle to Mario 64 or Spyro or more obscure 3D romps like Croc, Blasto, or Phix, and its only major selling points compared to the aforementioned is that you play with a chicken and that it specifically targets children (although you can just as well give a kid Mario 64, Spyro, Croc, or Phix). If it weren't for the zany antics of the chicken news team, random blurbs, and story developments on the cubes, I honestly would never see a game of this caliber to the end.

This is a video of the game in action.
