In this episode of Skul the Hero Slayer, I'll be using Minotaur with a mixed damage Crit Item run! Minotaur is, in my opinion, often underrated for how good he is. He hits like a truck, one of the highest damaging skulls at base form in the game. His skills are mostly good, Bludgeon being one of the best skills in the game, and his passive where he stomps on the ground enables him to perform well in archetypes you wouldn't expect he would, like Crit Items. That said, he is absolutely fucking massive, and slow as hell too, which makes him a little scary to use for new players for sure. Bludgeon is the key to overcome the slowness of him, giving him i-frames instead of the usual mobility that allows skulls to avoid damage. However, that's enough said about Minotaur, let's talk about our mixed damage strategy! Mixed damage, especially with Crit Items in particular, makes your run building far more consistent. It bypasses more than normal the pitfalls of roguelite RNG. Normally without the knowledge you can take magic items on physical skull runs and vice versa, you may find yourself rerolling through shops looking specifically for physical items that fall within your archetype exclusively due to you having physical skulls, and you roll and roll, and in one of those shop rerolls is an Invisible Knife, but because you're playing in your mind a physical only run you don't even consider taking it, and then roll it away in hopes for the Gunpowder Sword or Crown of Thorns, but it never comes. Then you curse your luck and the game itself, and lose before you can make it to the next shop. You WERE offered an item to fit your build, but you weren't even aware of it. That's the principle behind mixed damage, and it's what our run will be exploring today. So, that's our run, Minotaur with a Mixed Damage focus strategy! Joined by Stone Monkey, can this classic duo show the power and consistency of mixed damage run building?
