The Mega65 team have been working on free and open source replacement ROMs for the C64 and have made an alpha version available for us to download.

The ROMs are still in the early stages of development, so don't expect high compatibility. I wasn't able to get disk loading to work. Hopefully, in the future, the MiSTer will be able to run these ROMs.
