Viva la Revolucíon.
Time passes on, many things change. The people I know, the opinions I share, the equipment I use, it shuffles around a lot, Yet my love for this game remains eternal.
Yggdra Union is a game I hold very close to my heart as it helped broaden my appeal of Strategy RPGs just as I was getting used to games like Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics, with its innovative(if rather obtuse) battle system and unflinching difficulty coupled with a story that got me so passionate about the actions of a video game heroine that few games have ever tried to match since. At the same time my love for the game expressed outward when I had a small hand in broadening peoples' awareness for it in years past, first by featuring characters in my first FE ROM hack to doing a Let's Play almost ten years ago. I'll never forget that.
And now I'm ready to revisit this again.
Yggdra Union is Sting's second entry in their Department Heaven line of games, released late in 2006 on the Game Boy Advance, taking place some time before Riviera: The Promised Land(their first entry). It tells of Princess Yggdra Yuril Artwaltz of Fantasinia, who's on the run from the Bronquian Empire when they came-a-knockin' and killed her parents, as she bands together with a breezy thief named Milanor to help gather up forces to take back her home. All peachy keen, until the plot decides to take a swerve and the lady's sense of bloodlust settles in. ...But I'm getting ahead of myself. The PSP version released two years later with a mess of extra content and Quality of Life improvements and would have been the superior version... until the JP-only Mobile and Switch ports released a year ago happened! Still, the PSP version is in English and that's what we'll be playing, wahahaha.
We'll Never Meme Alone either.
