I feel like I should apologize for beating a dead horse at this point, because, yeah, after you've seen the monsters themselves... there's really not a lot of spectacle-friendly stuff to be said for this demo. The weapons are fixed, the flow of the actual Monster Hunter gameplay has been zeroed down to "fight this guy! ...now buy the game, please!" ...so... there really isn't a ton to be expounded upon. Now we're just getting to the point that... I just like to play Monster Hunter.

There's no point to be proven, and the biggest portion of the information to be gleaned has already been sucked dry, the remaining details hover somewhere awkward between the obtusely specific and mind-numbingly pedantic, neither of which is a very compelling reason to plunk down 20 or so minutes a pop for what will realistically not be all that meaningful to the majority of viewers.

I guess the "point" is... that I'm aware enough that this is totally self-indulgent nonsense, and I think that even among games I love to play and would love even more to share as per this channel's founding principle and my general modus operandi... ... ...sometimes you just gotta play something you like and don't even care about anything else. (Wait, where are you going?! I just said I don't care about you! Stop doing that!)

---

I think I learned through my use of Brave Greatsword that... for all the variety in the game, you're PROBABLY not going to have an equally pleasant experience if you try to force yourself too far outside your comfort zone. In this case, the gear you're given is pretty far outside the comfort zone anyone should have with a monster like Valphalk. In the real game, this comfort zone is constantly moving and evolving, because your gear will naturally improve alongside your familiarity with the play styles and monsters, leading you to taking on progressively more powerful opponents and getting increasingly more effective at ending the lives of these noble beasts en masse.

Since the demo doesn't explore that aspect of the game, the only room for improvement to offset the natural deficit you're starting from is to... "git gud." (Not easy to do when two or three of the supporting legs of the game's design paradigm have been purposefully kicked out from under it for the sake of being... y'know, a demo.)

As I'm not especially good with baseline Greatsword gameplay (and I hope it showed!), at least not to the level required to make up for the bar being moved as it was for the purposes of the demo, no matter how well-intentioned my reasons for wanting to show off the most exaggeratedly demonstrative example of Brave style being both immensely more cumbersome than the standard moveset but also capable of absolutely wrecking things in the right hands... ... ...if those hands aren't quite right, it's going to be problematic, to say the least. (It actually took hours of grinding against Valphalk's metallic chassis to get that one successful run. And it was pretty dang close. BUT DRAMATIC! ... ... ...mission accomplished?)

Truth be told, I was actually originally hoping to finish out the trifecta of contrasting the life of a blademaster with that of a gunner, as the most pronounced differentiation in hunting styles... ... ...but let's get real, gunning is a way of life, and I haven't paid enough homage to the bullet gods to make up the deficit you're naturally finding yourself at against Valphalk... even if Brave Heavy Bowgun usage is INSANE. (Like all the Brave styles!)

So, I decided to step back a minutes and just think about weapons I like already and feel like I might not TOTALLY do complete injustice by taking a Brave stab at things... so let's split the difference, and thus the "gun"... is really more of a Gunlance... and I had a TON more fun. This is actually the one and only take from that idea, which I found rather alarming, even if the results are fairly riddled with on-the-job learning and hashing out the finer details by getting messy, making some mistakes, and carrying on.

...did that all kinda make any semblance of sense?I feel like it went in some kind of weird crazy-pants full circle, but I think I'm probably too deep in the madness to actually parse out the sane from the insane... but I feel like there are some traces of rhyming verses hiding behind the initial nonsense...

---

But yeah, I'm done with the demo. I had a lot of fun, but I won't be subjecting anyone to that stuff without reason... and hopefully this passion project amidst a channel supposedly totally composed of passion projects can... reignite my passion for... passion... (wait, what?)

...basically, be very afraid. If you weren't already, which you should be, because there's a ton of daggers all thrown skyward that I've committed to juggling somehow, and I don't think anyone can accurately predict how I plan on doing that without skewering myself and/or the audience in the process.
