The armorer skill is painfully slow to max out, so slow that it may be better to just buy your way through the training instead. However, with careful thought and thinking, it's not all that slow to level up the normal way. You just need something that damages armor (skeleton champion does very well with that), and a lot of repair hammers. I find Samarys Ancestral Tomb to be really effective. You can get up to 5 undead monsters in it. You will need a silver weapon though and the silver long sword is my preferred choice. With that, you can defeat the bonelords. Otherwise, only skeleton champion would be defeated (but they drop silver equipment if you really need it). Once you get a skeleton champion, let it attack and get a few hits in. This way, it damages the armor. That seems like a bad idea, but you can't perform repairs on something that doesn't need it. Don't fix what ain't broke! So, by letting a few hits come in, you can get damaged armor that you can repair. Successful repairs count toward the mastery. The number of successful repairs needed for the skill to level up is roughly double that of the level. That is, a level 75 armorer skill needs 150 total successful repairs to reach level 76. It's a ton, but they go by quite fast by doing this. Once down to the last armorer hammer, buy more. Of course, don't forget to dispose of the corpses so that, when you leave and return, you'll get more bonelords and skeleton champions.
