https://www.patreon.com/ulillillia --- The monk only challenge sees some very slow progress at the start as monks are fairly weak early on. However, by level 10, when they do 4 hits instead of 2, things get much better. Like with any other playthrough of FF1, I tend to spend a lot of time leveling up in the Terra Caverns. At first, it's with hill gigas and the lizards that come with it. Then, once those start fleeing or I feel ready enough for it, heading over to gnoma. Gnoma never flees, even at level 99. Gnoma hits incredibly hard though, doing over 100 damage. Fortunately, there's never any "enemy strikes first" setups and you only ever get just one of them at a time so it's easy enough to manage. At this point, gnoma pretty much never gets a chance to act and evasion helps a good bit as well. Once I get to level 32, I'll be doing 8 hits. Level 42 is when I'd have 10 hits, 53 for 12, 64 for 14, 74 for 16, 85 for 18, and 96 for 20. By level 99, I should be hitting almost everything for 8K damage with no boosting. A couple of rounds of the giant's gloves (when I get there) and I'll be getting 5-figure damage popups on pretty much everything.
