Mortal Kombat Movie 1995 - Toys and Action Figures!
Lets look at the toys and action figures released by Hasbro for the Mortal Kombat 1995 movie as well as the many toy lines that came afterwards.
Hasbro released 3.75 inch action figures the year before the movie came out and also around the time of the movie for the summer of 1995. These 3 3/4 figures were similar toe GI-JOE figures, or the O-Ring figures. Many of them were retools and kit-bashes of gijoe 1:18 scale action figures. Some were newly tooled like the Prince Goro figure, but the ninjas like Scorpion and Sub-Zero were only partially new. The Shang Tsung movie figure was a repaint of an unreleased figure from the joe line. They also made figures of Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, Raiden, and many more. And they released world building items like vehicles. They released the Dragon MK-1 boat with Reptile, the Kombat Cycle, and the Dragon Wing.
Other companies have done Mortal Kombat action figures over the years like Toy Island and Mezco Toys. In the mid to late 2000s we got figures from Jazzwares. These were very good. They made them for the PS2 Mortal Kombat games, and for 2009 Mortal Kombat reboot for Playstation 3. Mcfarlane made figures as well for Mortal Kombat 11 and are now going to do the Mortal Kombat Classics line that will be inspired by the original games for arcades and Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis.
